Growth Expected To Moderate From 67 In 2022

Greece's Economy Projected to Grow 5.0% in 2023

Growth Expected to Moderate from 6.7% in 2022

Athens, December 22 (Reuters) -

Greece's economy is projected to grow 5.0% next year after expanding an expected 7.2% in 2022, the country's statistics agency said on Thursday. The estimate for 2023 is slightly lower than the 5.4% growth forecast by the European Commission and the Greek government in the Autumn Forecast. The agency said growth is expected to moderate from 6.7% in 2022 to 1.6% in 2023 and 2024. The suspension of EU rules on budget deficits related to the COVID-19 pandemic will expire in 2023, the agency noted. This may put a mild drag on economic growth in 2023 and 2024. The agency said real GDP is projected to grow by 4.9% in 2022 and ease to 3.5% in 2023.
